Meeting to discuss joint use of center


The Carson City Parks and Recreation Department and the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada invite the public to attend an informational meeting 7-8:30 p.m., tonight, in the Pinion Pine Room, Carson City Senior Citizens Center, 911 Beverly Drive. This meeting is to discuss the design of a joint-use indoor recreation center to be located on property owned by the Boys and Girls Club at the corner of Northridge Drive and Russell Way. Carson Plaza hosts Mother's Day Buffet


Residents of Carson Plaza retirement community host a Mother's Day Buffet 12:30-2 p.m. Sunday. The Carson Plaza executive chef will prepare an array of buffet dishes, and pianist Reba Tawlks will provide entertainment. The public is invited to attend for a fee of $7.50 per person. Strings in the Schools display


"Strings in the Schools" display will be on display 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday, Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, through May 31 at the Carson City Library, 900 N. Nevada Hepatitis C Task Force picnic


Nevada Hepatitis C Task Force hosts a free picnic and concert noon-5 p.m., Saturday, May 17 at the Capital. The Task Force is seeking donations for raffle prizes or monetary donations from the community. All donations are tax deductible. The mission of the Nevada Hepatitis C Task Force, a non-profit organization, is to serve the state of Nevada with a commitment to prevention, education, public awareness, outreach, patient support and advocacy. Law Enforcement Officers Memorial ceremony Thursday


The annual Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial ceremony will be 1 p.m., Thursday on the Nevada Capitol Grounds between the Capitol Building and the Legislative Building. The ceremony is to honor the 103 Nevada Peace Officers that have been killed in the line of duty. For information, call 882-3831.

Coin Drive for Lindsay Davidson


Dayton Elementary School Boosters are collecting coins for Lindsay Davidson, 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, Dayton Elementary School, 285 Dayton Valley Road. Lindsay was struck by an uninsured motorist crossing Dayton Valley Road. Donations may be dropped off at the school office.
