Carson High NJROTC ceremony


The Carson High School NJROTC Unit will conduct its annual change of command ceremony at 2:10 p.m., today, at the ROTC Center. Parents, family and friends to attend the 30 minute ceremony. For information, call 283-1780.




Fun Walk starts at Brewery Arts Center


"Ways to Enhance Children's Activity and Nutrition participates with Muscle Powered in Bike to Work Week for a Fun Walk, 5:30 p.m., today at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St. The walk is 1.4 miles and will circle the historic district.


Each participating child will receive a map, a list of special places to find and a bottle of water. The first 100 children to complete the walk will receive a "goodie bag" of healthy snacks. All children and their parents will receive a raffle ticket for a gift basket. The free event is to encourage healthy eating and exercising. For information, call 884-0400 or 315-6763.




Nevada Hepatitis C Task Force picnic


Nevada Hepatitis C Task Force hosts a free picnic and concert noon-5 p.m., Saturday at the Capital. The Task Force is seeking donations for raffle prizes or monetary donations from the community. All donations are tax deductible. The mission of the Nevada Hepatitis C Task Force, a non-profit organization, is to serve Nevada with a commitment to prevention, education, public awareness, outreach, patient support and advocacy. Artists sought for association


The Carson Valley Art Association is calling for all artists from Nevada and adjoining California counties to enter its Carson Valley Days Show. Entries will be accepted at the CVIC Hall 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 12. Entry fees for CVAA members are $4 per entry and $6 per entry for non-members, $3 for high school students to a maximum of three entries. All works must be original. Desert Brushes to meet this evening


The Carson Valley Desert Brushes meet at 6 p.m. today at the Johnson Lane Firehouse, 1450 Stephanie Way, Minden. Painters of all levels and those who would like to learn to paint are welcome. The project for this meeting is painting on tiles. For information, call 246-3378.
