Walk/run will be Saturday in Carson City

The CASA of Carson City Pasta Feast will be held tonight from 6-8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 306 West Musser St.

The CASA Run/Walk will be Saturday. It starts promptly at 8:30 a.m., though participants are encouraged to arrive early to warm-up.

The event will be timed and has categories for different ages. Prizes will be awarded to the top three participants in each 5k sub-category and all registrants will receive a T-shirt and a goody bag. There will be a 11Ú4 mile walk/run/bike for children 10 and younger. Parents should accompany small children.

The event will begin at Long Ranch Park in Carson City and feature Ronald McDonald and entertainment along the route.

Registration for the run/walk closes at noon today. For children 10 and younger, registration is $15 and $25 for all others. Registration for the Kids Walk/Run/Bike is $15. To register for the event, visit the Web site www.active.com and search for CASA Carson City.

At the Pasta Feast on Friday, dinner will be served ongoing from 6-8 p.m.

Dinner will include spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, garlic bread and cake for dessert. Cost is $10 per adult; children 10 years and younger will cost $5. Tickets can be purchased at the CASA Web site or at the door.

The events will benefit children of Carson City served by Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA volunteers primarily advocate for children taken into care by the state through a child welfare court case.
