Garage Sale items needed


The Children's Museum is accepting donations now for their rummage sale June 7. The museum is at 813 N. Carson Street. To donate call, 884-2226.




Care center seeks items for yard sale


Evergreen Mountain View Care Center will accept donations through May 23 for the "Spring Cleaning" yard sale, 9 a.m. May 24. Evergreen Mountain View Care Center is located at 201 Koontz Lane. Proceeds will go to "No Senior Left Behind Fund." For information, call 883-3622.




Donations for Myanmar accepted


The Salvation Army is accepting donations to help those affected by the devastation caused by Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar. Members of The Salvation Army in Yangon have been providing cooked meals from their own store of food and clean water from artesian wells for locals who are desperately in need. Contributions can be made to the relief effort through The Salvation Army in the United States online at www.salvationarmyusa.org or call 1-800-SAL-ARMY. Indicate that you would like your donation to assist the survivors of the Myanmar cyclone.


The Salvation Army has also established a P.O. Box for direct mail donations: The Salvation Army International Disaster Relief Fund, P.O. Box 630728, Baltimore, MD 21263-0728




'All About Roses' seminar Saturday


David Ruf will present "All About Roses in Northern Nevada", 9 a.m., Saturday at Greenhouse Garden Center, 2450 S. Curry Street. See over 160 blooming varieties of roses and have all of your questions answered. The seminar is free. For information, call 882-8600.




'Tommy's Fishing Derby' Saturday


Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177 hosts "Tommy's Fishing Derby", Saturday Davis Creek Park, group day use area. Registration 8:30-10 a.m. Fishing 9-11 a.m. This event is for all children age 2-12. All children who fish will win a prize. Hamburgers and hot dogs provided for participants and their families. For information, call 882-2177.

Celebrate Mother's Day at state park


River Wranglers hosts Mother's Day 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday at Ft. Churchill State Historic Park in the John C. Fremont Picnic area, on Hwy 95-A. Smokey Bear will be in attendance. Activities for all ages including making a print of a fish, weave a water-cycle bracelet or identify birds by their beaks.
