New hours for Carson City Library


The Carson City Library Board regrets to inform the community that due to staff vacancies resulting from a reduced library budget the Library's public service hours will change as of June 9.


New hours beginning the week of June 9 are as follows: Monday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday noon-6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Closed Sundays. For information, call 887-2244.




Community meeting to discuss dog parks


A community meeting to discuss the possible building of dog parks will be 5:30-7:30 p.m., Monday at the Carson City Community Center, Sierra Room, 851 E. William St.


Citizens who are not in favor of dog parks are also encouraged to attend. Groups will be formed to work on fundraising, site selection, research of other dog parks, rule making and other efforts to support the building of dog parks.

Affordable lab screenings offered


Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center offers affordable lab screenings on the second Tuesday of each month. Doctor's orders are not required.


Included: Comprehensive Metabolic and Lipid Panel, PSA, CBC, TSH, and Hemoglobin A1c.

Give blood, possibly win free gas


Throughout the entire month of May, United Blood Services of Reno will be turning to all eligible blood donors to request a blood donation during their "Cars Need Gas and People Need Blood" promotion.


Donors will be entered into a weekly drawing for a $250 gas card.


Appointments are available online at www.UnitedBloodServices.org or by calling 324-6454 in Reno or 887-9111 in Carson City.


Donors are asked to bring a photo ID and Donor Card every time they donate. All donors receive free cholesterol testing and walk-ins are always welcome at 1125 Terminal Way in Reno or 256 E. Winnie Lane in Carson City.

Cowboys to perform Mom's Day concert
