Advocates say thanks to Borders Books

Kudos and a great big thank you to Borders Books on Topsy Lane for conducting a book drive to benefit Advocates to End Domestic Violence.

The agency operates a 51-bed shelter for victims of domestic violence, many of whom are young children. These victims often flee their homes with little more than the clothes on their backs.

For the children, having a familiar and entertaining book or two can turn feelings of boredom and isolation into fantastic flights of fantasy. Borders books, with the generous participating of their Carson City customers, collected three large boxes of books for all ages, which they donated to the shelter.

Resident appreciates efforts on firebreak

Thank you to Carson City, the United States Forest Service, Nevada Division of Forestry, State Lands, Resource Concepts, the Borda family, the shepherds, their guard and herding dogs, and many hundred woolly weedeaters, rams, ewes and lambs, for grazing a firebreak around the western wildland urban interface of town.

Group's car wash receives generous support

Carson High School Link Crew would like to thank the community for their generous support in purchasing tickets for our car wash, which was recently held at the north Wal-Mart in Carson City.

Our car wash could not have been possible had it not been for Dayna at Wal-Mart. Once again, she ensures that everything runs smoothly, and is so kind and helpful. Thank you to Mission Industries for providing us with all the towels.

Because of all the community support, our car wash was a huge success. Again, we appreciate everyone's involvement.
