Record highs expected today again in Nevada before big change

RENO " Near or record high temperatures were expected across northern Nevada again before temperatures take a big dive, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service said Sunday's high in Reno hit 96, breaking the old record for the date by 2 degrees.

Records also were broken in Lovelock at 102 degrees, Fallon at 98, Yerington at 97, the weather service said.

Temperatures Monday were expected to be at or near record levels, but forecasters said the spring heat wave would come to an abrupt halt by midweek.

By Wednesday, daytime highs were expected to plunge and struggle to get into the lower 60s.

The weather change will come with a breezy conditions and a chance of rain through the weekend, the weather service said.
