Airman Bailey graduates from basic military training
Air Force Airman Julius A. Bailey has graduated from basic military training at LacklandAir Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches.
He also received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
He is the son of Kevin Bailey of Minden, and Tina Fontes of Las Vegas.
Bailey is a 2007 graduate of Douglas High School.
Seaman Hill departs on scheduled deployment
Navy Seaman Ian M. Hill, son of Loretta and David M. Hill of Dayton, departed on a scheduled deployment as part of the Peleliu Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) while assigned to the guided-missile cruiser USS Cape St. George homeported in San Diego.
Prior to deploying, Hill and more than 5,500 sailors and Marines of the Peleliu ESG successfully completed a Composite Training Unit Exercise and a Joint Task Force Exercise (JTFEX).
The JTFEX is the final step in preparing the strike group for deployment, and is designed to test its ability to operate in a complex, hostile environment with other U.S. and coalition forces.
USS Cape St. George is an Aegis-equipped cruiser able to engage in offensive actions against the enemy through employment of long-range anti-shipping missiles and naval gunfire.
Hill is a 2003 graduate of Livermore High School of Livermore, Calif.
