GARDNERVILLE - Two people were killed Friday afternoon in a head-on collision on Highway 395, 10 miles south of Gardnerville.

A 1955 Pontiac was northbound near Ray May Way and the Pineview Estates when it struck a southbound 1999 Chevy pick-up about 4:45 p.m., according to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen.

An elderly couple in the Pontiac were pronounced dead at the scene, said Allen. Their names are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. He said the Pontiac was registered to a Minden address.

Hector Trigueros, a 40-year-old truck driver from Topaz, Calif., was taken by ambulance to Carson Valley Medical Center, then transferred by helicopter to Reno for treatment.
