In what could very well be a preview of next week's NIAA 3A State Championship match, Yerington outlasted Truckee in five games on Saturday to win the Northern 3A title at Truckee.
Yerington will be gunning for its third straight state title next week. Kayla Lommori had 25 kills, four blocks and 18 digs, Dama Cox had nine kills and three blocks, Angela Marraccini had three kills and 16 digs, Rani Williams had four kills, 16 digs and two aces, Courtney Clifton and 13 digs, Lyzette Aguilar added an ace and 12 digs, Kiara Ross had 10 digs, two blocks and 38 assists and Alex Roberts added six blocks for Yerington.
The Lions advanced to the championship match by sweeping Dayton in three games in the semifinals. Lommori had 17 kill, five blocks, six digs and three aces, Cox had seven kills, Roberts had six kills, Ross had four kills, Marraccini had four kills and seven digs, Ross had two aces and 34 assists, Aguilar had an ace, Angela Moore had an ace, Roberts had two blocks, Williams had five digs and Trinity Thom added a block for Yerington.
Dayton beat Fernley in four games in the third place match to advance to state.
