Carson City deputies are investigating a shooting Tuesday in which a delivery truck was hit.

Deputy Josh Stagliano said a UPS driver reported he was in the area of College Parkway and Highway 50 East, just west of the 7-Eleven at about 11:45 a.m., when he heard what he thought was a car back fire.

"He said it was so loud it made his ears ring," said Stagliano.

The driver continued on and made a few deliveries before pulling into the Save Mart parking lot and discovering a bullet hole in the back door of the delivery truck.

Stagliano said officers were unable to recover a bullet fragment. It's thought that the bullet may have entered one of the packages that the driver delivered before finding the hole.

Those businesses that received a delivery were contacted and asked to check their packages.

Stagliano asked anyone who may have been in the area of College Parkway and Highway 50 East between 11:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, and who may have heard a loud sound like a gunshot or saw anything suspicious to call Carson City non-emergency dispatch at 887-2007.
