Workshop for first time homebuyers

An informational workshop for first time homebuyers will be held on 7 p.m., Monday at the Sierra Nevada Board of Realtors office 300 S. Curry St. The workshop is free, but space is limited; call 883-8500 to sign up.

Carson High School hosts Holiday Craft Fair Nov. 21, 22

The 14th Holiday Craft Fair hosted by Carson High School will be 5-8:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 22 at the school, 1111 Saliman Road. Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit, and there are 138 booths to shop for hand-crafted items, foods, raffles and entertainment. Proceeds support the Carson High School student programs. Cost is $2 per person Friday which is good for readmission on Saturday, or $1.50 on Saturday or $1 with a can of food. For information, call 882-8109.

Tattoo marathon for Austin's House and Food Closet

Hooligan's Ink sponsors "Tattooed for Good" 24-hour tattoo marathon, noon, Saturday, Nov. 22 through noon Sunday, Nov. 23, 1501 Fairview Drive, No. 20. Proceeds will go to Austin's House, a safe haven for neglected and abused children and Carson Valley Food Closet.

Selected tattoos are $50 with a canned food donation. For information, call 883-7337.

AARP Tax-Aide Program needs volunteers

AARP Tax-Aide Program is seeking volunteers who can give four to six hours per week for 12 weeks between Feb. 1 and April 15 to help low to middle-income and senior clients with their federal returns. Counselors receive comprehensive training in the preparation of tax returns. The classes are held in December and January. For information, e-mail gilcalif@att.net or call 841-3675.

Clayton Homes sponsors food drive

Clayton Homes holds a food drive to benefit the Ron Wood Family Resource Center through Saturday, Dec. 20. Nonperishable food items may be dropped off 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday at 10020 Highway 50 East, Carson City. Every person making a donation will be entered into a raffle to win a 42-inch television or an eight foot stocking stuffed with toys. Santa Claus will visit the office 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 13. For information, call 246-4500.

Food drive at Curves in Indian Hills and Minden

Curves for Women in Indian Hills and Minden have joined together for a food drive for the Douglas County Food Bank. The community is invited to help by dropping off nonperishable food items at Curves, 924-D Mica Drive, Indian Hills or Curves, 1667 Lucerne, Suite D, Minden. For information, call 267-4711.
