Elizabeth "Bett" Natalie Giomi

Elizabeth Natalie Giomi, 86, a 31-year Carson City resident passed away Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008 at Renown Regional Medical Center. She was born Christmas Day in 1921 in Falcade, Italy. She immigrated to the United States with her family after World War I and settled in San Francisco.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Louis "Luigi" Giomi, two sisters, and one brother.

Mr. and Mrs. Giomi were best remembered for operating Papa Luigi's Italian Delicatessen in the Silver City Mall. The couple opened the store in 1977 and it quickly became a popular hot spot for the many Italian-Americans and all who loved Italian food in Carson City. Prior to opening the delicatessen, Elizabeth was self-employed as a hairdresser in Redwood City and San Francisco, Calif.

Elizabeth is survived by her son Richard Giomi and wife Lynn of Reno and son Stacey Giomi and wife Trish of Carson City; grandchildren Shawn Jarolimek (Jonathan) of Redwood City, Keri Giomi-Jarolimek (Matt) of Simpsonville, S.C., Robbie Giomi and Stephanie Giomi of Reno and great-grandchild Ava Elizabeth Jarolimek of Redwood City.

The family will hold private services. In lieu of cards or flowers the family requests that donations be made in Elizabeth's name to Saint Mary's Foundation (Hospice), 520 W. 6th St., Reno, NV 89503-9911.
