NBC in Carson City makes early switch to digital

NBC is no longer available in Carson City without cable, digital TV or a digital converter box.

A television translator at Duckhill went out and NBC's Reno affiliate, KRNV, do not plan to fix it, according to John Finkbohner, station operations manager.

NBC will only be available through cable, digital TV or a digital converter box because of the national switch from analog airwaves to digital broadcasts Feb. 17.

Television antennas will no longer work after that day.

Coupons for digital converter boxes are available at www.dtv2009.gov. Coupons must be ordered by the end of this year.
