Kathy Tatro of Coldwell Banker Best Sellers has been named Realtor of the Month for September.


The Affiliate of the Month Award was presented to Linda Bendle of Stewart Title located in Carson City.




In May of 2008, the Carson City Chamber of Commerce told members that the Chamber Gift Certificate Program was to be discontinued June 30.


The bank account has been closed and if anyone accepted any certificates, they will be returned NSF.




Jeff Ceccarelli, NV Energy corporate vice president, was honored with the University of Nevada, Reno, College of Engineering's James G. Scrugham Medal on Friday.




A group of 20 Northern Nevada companies are finalists for the Governor's Industry Appreciation "Distinguished Business of the Year" Awards. For the first time, companies are being recognized in four categories including: Community support, workforce-education, innovation and start-up, with five finalists in each group. Award winners will be announced at the 24th Annual Governor's Industry Appreciation Awards on Nov.r 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at John Ascuaga's Nugget.


Finalists in the community support category are: Harrah's Reno, McDonald Carano Wilson, NAI Alliance, Niotan, Inc. and the Reno Gazette-Journal. Finalists in the workforce/education category include: Henry Schein, Microsoft Licensing, Niotan, SilverSky Group and the University of Phoenix. Finalists in the innovation category are: Applied Business Solutions, Niotan, Ormat Technologies, the Reno Gazette-Journal and Tri-Property Resort. Finalists in the start-up category are: Hug Your Kids, Image Base International, Northern Nevada Association of Professional Veterans, Schneider Logistics, Inc. and Viega.

Ken Dillon, president of D & D Roofing and Sheet Metal announced that the company, which is employee owned through an ESOP stock program, has contracts for $6.4 million in new jobs.


The largest new job is a $2.1 million project at Lake Forest Glenn at Lake Tahoe. It will be completed in stages with the first stage already underway. It is one of the biggest jobs undertaken by D & D.


The other new jobs include: Eagle Landing, Sparks; SL 546, Stead; Renown CAM, Reno; Manor Care, Sparks; Reno Toyota, Reno; Vista #7,Reno; Meredith #9, Sparks; Reno Aircenter, Reno; Kelly Moore Paint, Reno; Pacific Cheese, Reno; Pyramid Professional Center, Sparks; Chromalloy, Carson City; Virginia City High School; Nevada Mental Health, Reno; and Western Folk Life, Elko.
