John H. Shearer

John H. Shearer passed away at the age of 86 Sept. 2, 2008.

He was a native of Pennsylvania. John earned a Bachelors Degree in Business administration; served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II where he was trained as a radio operator.

In 1962 John and his wife Marjorie settled in Nevada. He was employed with Warehouse Markets for many years. Along with his brother in-law, he planted Baptist Churches in Washoe Valley, Gardnerville and Carson City. For the past twenty years John and Marjorie were the managers of Sleepy Hallow Trailer Park. Every Thursday night their home was packed as he led Bible study for long term and seasonal residents of the park.

He leaves behind his sons Richard, Butch and Paul; stepsons Bill, Paul and Rick; grandchildren James, Bill, Shannon, Stacie Welch, Brett, and Katie; sister Nancy and a large extended family. His wife Marjorie passed away in February of this year.

A private burial was held at Whispering Pines Cemetery.
