Representatives from Nevada Business Connections and Southwest Gas Corporation went a two-day development and recruitment trip last week to Northern California.

The visited the following types of businesses that are interested in Northern Nevada: An aircraft parts manufacturer, a sports equipment distributor, a medical instrument manufacturer, a sheet metal shop, a consultant for assisted living homes, construction developer and a mortgage company.

Wells Fargo & Company has officially taken over the account relationships of former Citibank customer households in six northern Nevada communities, including Carson City. Customers in Carson City may now transact their financial services business from Wells Fargo's 43 locations in northern Nevada and more than 3,200 nationwide.

Nine-year-old Ashlee Smith, founder of "Ashlee's Toy Closet" has recently been honored with a few awards.

She has been honored with the Kohl's Kids Who Care Store Level Scholarship.

Ashlee will also be receiving the Outstanding Northern Nevada Youth Heroes Award presented by the Community Associations Institute Nevada Chapter. Ashlee and her family will be flying to Las Vegas early in September to receive the award.

Ashlee is currently helping the child victims from the Ridgecrest Fire and also a family from Silver Springs that recently suffered a tragic house fire.

The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) has named Tina Iftiger as director of business development.

In her position, Iftiger will lead the organization's efforts to recruit, expand and start up high yield business and industry that create high paying jobs and opportunities throughout the Greater Reno-Tahoe region.
