Eunice Estella Balster, 96, was born October 11, 1911 in Magnolia, Ark. to John and Emma Mayo. She was raised in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and California.
She passed away September 16, 2008 in Carson City.
Ms. Balster married Henry "Dusty" Balster, September 21, 1936 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following World War II, Ms. Balster and her spouse owned and operated a Nursery in Westminster, Calif. for over 30 years until they retired in 1976 and moved to Carson City. Mr. Balster was a career Navy Officer. Ms. Balster completed two years of College and achieved Associate of Arts Degrees in Physical Education, Home Economics, and Horticulture. She was a 40-year active member of the Order of Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile Chapters in California and Nevada.
Ms. Balster was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years and by siblings, Waymond Smith of Reno, Hugh Mayo of Ely, Alyene Graves of Hawaiian Gardens, Calif. and Nancy Schutty of Sun City, Calif.
She is survived by many relatives in Nevada, Arizona, California, and Oregon.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Thursday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley. Interment will be in Westminster Memorial Park in Westminster, Calif.
