A contractor and member of the Carson City Airport Authority has been named interim manager of the Carson City Airport.

David McClelland of McClelland Builders and Excavation will work as a volunteer manager until the airport authority can fill the position.

He said he's happy to do the job until the authority can find the "perfect person" for the job.

"I always step up and I'm always ready to help," he said.

Steve Lewis, chairman of the authority, appointed McClelland as interim manger.

Yvon Weaver quit Aug. 14 as part-time airport manager after 15 years on the job. Her husband, Neil Weaver, resigned as a member of the authority later that month.

The authority has owned and operated the airport since 1989. The airport does not have commercial service.

The new phone number for the airport is 841-2255.
