A delegation from Nevada joined almost 500 building representatives from around the country in Washington, D.C., at the annual Legislative Conference hosted by the National Association of Home Builders to address issues that affect the industry and economy.

Attending from Carson City were Mark Turner, second vice president of the Builders Association of Western Nevada, and Rick DeMar, CEO of BAWN. From Reno were Bob Nielson of The Builders Association of Northern Nevada and second vice chairman of NAHB, Greg Peek and Mike Holms, both BANN past presidents. Mick Galatio of Las Vegas, past president of Southern Nevada Home Builders Association, also attended.

The delegation met with Nevada Sens. Harry Reid and John Enign and Reps. Dean Heller, Dina Titus and Shelley Berkley.

Some issues addressed in the meetings were: housing tax incentives, lending crisis, housing finance system reform, Card Check, seller-funded down payment assistance reform, green building standards and the state of the housing economy.
