LAS VEGAS " An official says a rural Nevada county district attorney pleaded guilty to a reduced reckless driving charge and was sentenced to three years probation in a crash on a California desert highway last June.
San Bernardino County district attorney spokeswoman Susan Mickey said Wednesday that prosecutors dropped a misdemeanor drunken driving charge against Nye County District Attorney Bob Beckett in the plea deal reached Friday in Superior Court in Barstow, Calif.
Mickey says Beckett was fined $1,700 and has to complete a drinking and driving class.
Beckett previously acknowledged responsibility for two rollover crashes last June 15 on California Route 127. One wrecked a Nye County vehicle.
A California Highway Patrol officer reported Beckett failed a breath-alcohol test after the second crash.
