Obituary: Verne E. Dille

Verne E. Dille was born Nov. 8, 1925 in Glendale, Ariz. to Vena and Edgar Dille Sr.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lily Dille, sons and daughters-in-law Don and Karen Dille, Dan and Denise Holmgren, daughter and son-in-law Shari and John Guthmiller, daughters Lorie Perez and Linda Dunn, grandchildren Derek Holmgren, Chas Dille and Stacey Sadler.

Verne was a veteran of the Naval Air and served as a turret gunner in World War II. After completing his military duty, he moved to the states where he worked as a fireman, gunsmith, lumberjack and slot mechanic. His passions were hunting, fishing and sailing.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m., at St. Gall's Catholic Church in Gardnerville. Burial will take place at Happy Homestead Cemetery in South Lake Tahoe, Calif.

In lieu of flowers, prayers and mass's can be said in Verne's name at St. Gall's.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is caring for arrangements.
