The Dayton softball team fell 3-0 to the Bishop Manogue Miners despite giving up just one hit and not allowing an earned run.

All three runs scored off errors when the Dust Devils' backup catcher overthrew third base. The first run came in the first inning and two scored on an overthrow in the fifth.

Natasha Wells registered the only hit for Dayton when it threatened in the top of the seventh. The first two batters of the inning struck out before Wells reached, Melissa Cole reached on an error and Breanne Dehaven was walked to load the bases. But the next batter got out, ending the rally.

Cole took the loss, striking out one and walking two.

The Dust Devils will play Pershing County on Tuesday in a non-league game.

WNC returns to poll, changes schedule

The Western Nevada baseball team returned to the National Junior College Athletics Association poll as the 18th-ranked team in the nation.

The Wildcats fell off the poll after their scores weren't reported in time.

Additionally, WNC's four-game series against Eastern Utah has been pushed back to Saturday and Sunday. The two doubleheaders will still begin at noon each day.

Correction

In Tuesday's article regarding the Carson golf team Jordan Anderson was the medalist. Anderson is a Carson City resident, who plays golf for Bishop Manogue.
