A Canada goose nests Thursday about 15 feet up a tree on the ranch of Tom and Joan Dotson in east Carson City. Dotson says the pair have returned to the same nest for at least five years. Local bird expert Linda Hiller says while they're generally ground-nesters, it's not uncommon for Canada geese to nest in trees and on haystacks. She says they're an adaptable species and if the location remains safe and successful they will return.
