Betty was born June 1, 1940 in Merrill, Wis. to John Edward and Elsie Larson. She passed away peacefully March 31, 2009 at home in Carson City. She was 68 years old.
A Carson City, Nevada resident for the past 28 years, Betty worked for the Carson Nugget for 18 years. She loved talking with her regular customers, especially about sports and politics. She was an avid sports fan, enjoying NFL, NBA and NASCAR. If a game or race was not on, you could find her with her nose in a book. She also loved to bake.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim and son Rick.
Betty is survived by her daughters Candy (Steve) Rolling of Las Vegas and Terri Blokzyl of Bullhead City, Ariz.; sons Jim (Brandi) Zoellner of La Mirada, Calif., Thor (Anne) Zoellner of Carson City; grandchildren Jesse (Maria) Zoellner of Las Vegas, Casey (Mindy) Blokzyl of Pratt, Kan., Brennan Zoellner, Haven Russell and Jake Zoellner of La Mirada, Calif., Alexandra Zoellner of Carson City; three great-grandchildren and two nieces.
A celebration of life will be 2 p.m., April 18, 2009 at the home of Thor Zoellner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests anyone wishing to make a donation, do so to The Humane Society.
