Dirk C. Spencer, 73, died March 29, 2009, at his home in Carson City. He was born March 20, 1936 to Cecil F. and Helen F. Spencer in Huntington, N.Y. He was preceded in death by his first wife Joan, daughter Nancy, brothers Gary and Allen, and his parents. Among his survivors are his wife Dona; son Dirk Jr. and wife Joyce; son Daniel; stepchildren Gordon, Karen, Michelle; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 7 at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Fernley with full military honors. Donations may be made to Friends of the Nevada State Museum, 600 North Carson Street, Carson City, Nevada 89701. Capitol City Cremation and Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
