The Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce is challenging area businesses to get "on board with the band" and help raise funds for uniforms for the Dayton High School marching band in time for the 2009 Nevada Day Parade.

"Dayton High School was the only band in the 2008 Nevada Day Parade without a marching band uniform," said Pam Boga, a band parent and Dayton Chamber Ambassador who is chairwoman of the fundraising effort.

"It is important to our students, Dayton High School and our community to show our pride and team spirit. Dayton is an active and growing community and with individual and business support we are able to continue making a positive difference in the students' lives at Dayton High School."

Area businesses are encouraged to donate money or prizes to be raffled in support of the Dayton High School band uniforms.

One local business owner has stepped up to support fundraising efforts by matching every dollar collected by area businesses.

Checks can be made payable to the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, noting Dayton High School Band Uniforms and mailed to the Chamber at P.O. Box 2408, Dayton, NV 89403.

The public is invited to attend the "Band & BBQ" community fundraising celebration at 5:30 p.m. April 24 at Dayton High School.

The cost is $5 per person or $12 per family.

There will be a raffle and entertainment provided by the Dayton High School concert band, jazz band and pep band.
