Out & About: Twenty-thousand eggs need good hiding spots

You'll find the city's largest egg hunt at a new location " Centennial Park " but it's the same amazing organization, Carson City Kiwanis Club, that continues to brighten the lives of children throughout the community each year with this egg-normous event.

Decorated eggs, real hard-boiled ones or artificial ones filled with candies will be hidden in various places for children to find.

Volunteers are needed to help with the annual event since there will be 20,000 eggs to hide.

WHO: Carson City Kiwanis International's Easter Egg Hunt

WHEN: The special needs and 0-3 year olds are at 10 a.m., Sat. April 11, the general public hunt is at noon.

HELP THE LEADERS OF THE BAND IN CARSON AND DAYTON

And his song is in my soul. I'm just a living legacy. To the leader of the band. There will be a special event "The Jon Holloway Project" playing jazz selections for dancing and entertainment.

Larry Holloway was the leader of the band and his son continues to bring the magic of music to all.

He taught music in Carson City for 23 years at Bordewich-Bray and Fritsch elementary schools before moving to the middle school level.

Larry taught more than music " he taught all his students the passion and beauty of music.

His son Jon, a 2005 CHS graduate now majoring at UNR in music, continues his father's legacy by helping the Carson High School Band students.

Please come down and enjoy wine tasting, appetizers, silent auction, fantastic talent and out-of-this-world music.

GET ON BOARD WITH THE BAND

Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce teams up with area businesses for the Dayton High School band uniform fundraiser. They are challenging area businesses to get "on board with the band" and help raise funds for much needed band uniforms for the Dayton High School marching band in time for the 2009 Nevada Day Parade. "Dayton High School was the only band in the 2008 Nevada Day Parade without a marching band uniform," stated Pam Boga, a band parent and Dayton Chamber Ambassador.

WHAT: Raffle and entertainment provided by the Dayton High School concert band, jazz band and pep band.

WHERE: Dayton High School.

WHEN: Friday, April 24 at 5:30 p.m.

COST: $5 per person or $12 per family.
