TRACY, Calif. " Authorities searching for a missing 8-year-old girl in Northern California have turned their attention to a container found in a pond.
The sealed container was discovered Monday by farmworkers draining the pond in Tracy to irrigate a nearby field.
Local, state and federal investigators searching for Sandra Cantu have been called to the scene.
San Joaquin County sheriff's spokesman Les Garcia called the item suspicious, but no other details have been released. Authorities say the pond had previously been searched.
Sandra was last seen March 27 skipping across a road inside the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park, where she lived with her parents and grandparents.
Tracy is 196 miles from southwest of Carson City.
