RENO, Nev. (AP) " Reno Mayor Bob Cashell says he has lined up significant financial commitments from several "well-connected" people in southern Nevada as he mulls a run for governor next year.

Cashell says he has a big family meeting planned soon but probably won't make up his mind until the legislative session ends at the end of May.

The Republican mayor of Reno since 2002 said on KRNV-TV's "Nevada Newsmakers" Tuesday he hasn't heard of any potential candidates so far who would scare him off.

That includes two Republicans who already announced plans to challenge Gov. Jim Gibbons in a primary " North Las Vegas Mayor Mike Montandon and former state Senator Joe Heck of Henderson. Possible Democratic candidates include Assembly Speaker Barbara Buckley and Clark County Commissioner Rory Reid.
