Nevada Health Centers, Inc. has received almost $1 million during a two-year period to assist in caring for uninsured people throughout Nevada. Most of the funding will be used to add medical staff to several of NVHC's larger medical centers to meet the growing demand for health services.

Nevada Health Centers delivers preventive and primary care services to patients regardless of their ability to pay. Charges for services are set according to income. In 2008, NVHC provided medical and dental care to almost 55,000 people. NVHC has 29 medical centers in Clark, Washoe, Eureka, Lander, Elko and Nye counties and Carson City.

In addition to their medical and dental centers, NVHC operates a statewide mobile mammography program, a Women Infants & Children (WIC) project and a Miles for Smiles Dental Program.
