Man arrested in alleged home invasion

A Reno man was jailed Thursday after he allegedly forced his way into his estranged girlfriend's Carson City apartment and took the couple's child.

David Alejandro Sanchez-Montes, 24, of Reno, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of felony home invasion.

According to the arrest report, Sanchez-Montes showed up unannounced at his estranged girlfriend's apartment and became angry because her new boyfriend was inside.

He allegedly forced his way into the apartment, grabbed the couple's 3-year-old son and left.

Carson City officers notified the Nevada Highway Patrol and Sanchez-Montes was stopped by troopers in Pleasant Valley at 8:16 a.m.

He was arrested on a charge of home invasion with a $25,000 bail and the child was returned to his mother.
