Roop Street closing

Roop Street at the intersection of Corbett Street will be closed 6:30 a.m.-

7 p.m., Saturday for utility work. Both northbound and southbound lanes will be closed. The city will provide signed detours, but it recommends using alternate routes. The work is part of the North Stewart Street extension.

'Swing into Spring' with High Sierra Swing Dance Club

High Sierra Swing Dance Club hosts its second anniversary "Swing into Spring" gala dinner dance, Saturday, April 25 at the Carson Nugget upstairs ballroom, 507 N. Carson St. No-host cocktails 6 p.m.; buffet dinner 6:30 p.m. and dancing at 7 p.m. Attire requested is semi-formal/formal. Tickets are $25 for HSSDC members and other swing club members or $30 general admission. Deadline to buy tickets is Wednesday, April 15. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Physicians raise funds for Cancer Center

Join the physicians of Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, 5 p.m, Saturday, May 9 at Glen Eagles Restaurant, 3700 N. Carson St., as they greet guests, serve dinner, cook and tend bar to raise funds to benefit the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center. 100 percent of the evening's tips, raffle and auction proceeds will benefit the Cancer Center. Teen Poetry Cafe hosted at library
