Rain, snow mix for Carson City today

Weather for the Carson City area today will be snow and rain in the morning with scattered showers in the afternoon; snow level 5000 to 5000 feet with accumulation up to 1 inch above 6000 feet. Highs 45-55 with light winds.

Tonight, mostly cloudy with isolated showers; partly cloudy with isolated snow showers after midnight. Snow level 5500 feet. Lows 27-37 with light winds.

Saturday, sunny in the morning and partly cloudy in the afternoon. Highs 53-63 with northwest winds 10-15 mph.

Easter Sunday, partly cloudy with highs 60-70 with northwest winds up to 10 mph.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports at 5:34 a.m. all roads open with no controls with the following exceptions:

SR 341 " Snowtires or chains required for 9.3 miles between 5.1 miles north of Silver City and 4.7 miles south of Highway 395, bottom of Geiger Grade.

SR 431 " Snowtires or chains required for 12.6 miles between SR 28 and 11.9 miles south of Highway 395.

Utility work is being done on Corbett and East John streets off North Roop Street. Detours are noted for motorists. Roop Street at Corbett will be closed from 6:45 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 11 for utility work. Detour signs will be posted.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, as with East Fifth Street from Saliman Road to Fairview Drive.

Work on Highway 50 in east Carson City and Mound House continues with posted lower speed limits and narrow lanes just east of Flint Drive.
