Artists Association presents Kickoff show

The Nevada Artists Association presents its Spring Kickoff Show 10 a.m.-

4 p.m., today at Brewery Arts Center Gallery 449 W. King St. The new show features the fine art and photography of local and region artists and will run through Friday, May 22. The gallery is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Saturday. For information, visit nevadaartists.org or call 882-0189.

Youth groups to hold yard sale

Nevada Hispanic Services Carson Youth Groups will hold a yard sale, 7 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 1711 N. Roop St. The yard sale is a fundraiser to benefit youth programs held at each school in Carson City. The youth groups meet every Tuesday at Eagle Valley Middle School, Wednesday at Carson High School and Thursday at Carson Middle School. For information, call 885-1055.

Carson City Music Club to hold recital

The Carson City Music Club presents the annual Student Recital 7 p.m., Monday, April 20, at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King St. $8 at the door, children under 18 are free. Non-members are welcome. Refreshments served after the performance. For information, call 720-9058.

Gently-used prom dresses wanted

The Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors is accepting donations of gently-used or new prom dresses along with accompanying jewelry, shoes and accessories. The association is at 300 S. Curry St., Suite 3. Donations of prom dresses and accessories will be made available to local high school students, free of charge. Donations are being accepted now through Monday, April 20. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday. Call 885-7200.

Teen swimmer remains hospitalized

GARDNERVILLE (AP) " A Douglas High School swimmer remains hospitalized today, four days after failing to exit a pool upon finishing a race during a meet.

According to family members, 15-year-old Molly Lahlum is in the intensive care unit at Reno's Renown Regional Medical Center.
