RENO (AP) " The U.S. Bureau of Land Management plans a prescribed burn south of Lake Tahoe.
Conditions permitting, the agency plans to burn two acres within the Indian Creek Campground in California's Alpine County today.
It's part of an overall effort to reduce forest fuel loads and lower the threat of catastrophic wildland fires.
Officials advise that smoke will be noticeable from Highway 89 and Airport Road near Markleeville, Calif., as the fire is set.
