The Storey County Senior Center in Virginia City will be closed this week while new flooring is installed in the kitchen, bathrooms and storeroom.

Regular diners at the senior center will need to go elsewhere for the week said April Enloe, the center's manager.

"We are providing self-stable meals for our Meals on Wheels clients," Enloe said. "We try to make it as easy as we can on them.

"They all have microwaves, so we've purchased soups and stews, also fruit cups and pudding cups."

Enloe said most of the diners will probably stay home and have been informed of the closure well in advance.

"There's not much we could do about it (closure)," Enloe said. "We've been talking to the seniors about this for oh, a year. They may go to Dayton (Senior Center), some of them do. But they like our cook, Ron Brown."

The center closes Monday and re-opens April 28. On the menu that day is a hot turkey sandwich, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce and dessert.
