Food for Thought hosts putting

contest May 16

Food for Thought and Empire Ranch Golf Course host a 9-hole putting contest, Saturday, May 16. Registration deadline is Thursday, May 14. Shotgun start every hour beginning at 10 a.m. through 1 p.m. $10 for a two-person team. Proceeds benefit Food for Thought that provides food to homeless children every weekend so they will not go to bed hungry. Overnight accommodations at the Atlantis, dinner at the Carson Nugget, oil changes from Tires Plus, and T- shirts from Michael's Cycles are just a few of the prizes. Earth Week at WNC

Western Nevada College celebrates Earth Week with an all-ages film festival, 7 p.m., Thursday, April 23 in Marlette Hall Cedar Building. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5 with WNC ID; $8 general admission. The films will showcase a wide range of filmmaking from animated shorts to real life adventures and experiences. Films include: 180 Degrees South; Fridays at the Farm; American Outrage; Litterball and Renewal. For information, call 445-3324.
