A pleasant affair. On Tuesday evening the Carson Guards were received at the Virginia Depot by the Emmett Guards, with full ranks, and escorted into the city, where they marched through the principal streets, after which they were escorted to Captain Young's restaurant for their dinner. Our soldiers express themselves thoroughly delighted with the pleasant treatment they received.

110 years ago

Still fighting. At about 4 o'clock this morning a small body of rebels attacked the camp of the Third Artillery from the swamp near Paomboan, a mile and a half west of Malolos. Two privates were killed and a lieutenant and two others were wounded. With the coming of daylight, the American forces scoured the district, driving the rebels northward and killing several of them. A private in the Montana regiment was wounded.

Ely, beyond question, is Nevada's greatest badger fightin' town. Both Ely papers Friday gave a lot of publicity to the fight scheduled between "Copper King," White Pine County's badger, and "Gus" a German dachshund. A block on Aultman Street will be roped off for the bout.

The Tahoe-Reno Industrial park in Storey County, one of the largest in the world at 102,000 acres has new tenants lining up, say developers.
