Man arrested on suspicion of DUI

A Mesquite man was jailed Wednesday after a suspected DUI rollover accident on Spooner Summit about 2:25 a.m.

Gustavos Ramos Romero, 25, was booked into the Carson City Jail on suspicion of drunken driving and failure to use due care.

According to Trooper Chuck Allen, Romero was westbound on Highway 50 West 1.5 miles from the junction with Highway 395 when he lost control of his 2004 Dodge Ram pickup and overturned.

Passenger Carolina Cruz, 19, of South Lake Tahoe and Romero were both taken from the scene by helicopter.

Romero was arrested upon his release from a Reno hospital. Cruz's injuries were not believed to be serious.
