Obituary: Ann Snider Lynn

Ann Snider Lynn passed away in her sleep in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 26, 2009 She was born in Auburn, Calif. to Baily and Aileen Snider in 1943, she was raised in Newcastle, Calif. and graduated from Placer High in 1961. She went on to earn her teaching credentials from Sacramento State College. After teaching jobs in Yuba City and Gridley Calif. she married Jerry Lynn in 1968 and moved to Reno, where she taught at Wooster High School. In 1970 Ann and Jerry moved to Carson City, where they lived for the rest of their 40-year marriage.

She was a devoted member of the St. Teresa Catholic Community, where she served as Eucharistic Minister and worked with engaged couples and new congregants. She was an active member of the Carson Valley Bridge Club and for many years she worked with Carson City Literacy Volunteers as a tutor to adults learning to read. Her kind and caring nature gave encouragement to many who knew her and she will be remembered for her selfless concern for others.

She is survived by her loving husband Jerry in Carson City; her brother Richard Snider of Ophir, California; her daughter Amy and son-in-law Bob Rettammel of Madison, Wisconsin, and two sons Josh and Joe Lynn of Carson City.

A rosary vigil will be 7 p.m., Thursday in the chapel at the St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community in Carson City. A funeral mass in her honor will be 11 a.m., Friday held in the St. Teresa Catholic Church. A reception will follow in Chartz Hall at the same location.
