Relief Wanted: The following telegram was received in this city at 10 last night: To the Mayor of Carson One-half of our town was destroyed by fire last night. A great many of our people are destitute and homeless, and will have to live on the hillside for the present. Aid would be acceptable. Signed: E. Probert, R. Sadler, John Horn, M. D. Foley, W. R. Daylight saving time will go into effect in Nevada Sunday. Nevada is presently scheduled to go off the fast time on the last Sunday in September, but this may change pending action by the California legislature. Because of the close relationship between the two states, we have gone on and off daylight saving time on the same date.

The new green now coming up on the slopes of "C" Hill will go a long way to protect the homes beneath from another fire scare with the addition of new fire-resistant grasses. The new grass was planted after a lightning fire burned 1,800 acres within feet of several neighborhoods in 1988.
