Gilbert to face Stovall in Fallon fight

Let's Get It On Promotions announced Monday that Joey Gilbert will face Ivan Stovall on Aug. 29 in the "Fallon Fights/Rural Rumble '09" main event at the Churchill County Fairgrounds in Fallon.

The fight is the first for Gilbert, a Reno native, since suffering a 12-round unanimous decision loss against rival Jesse Brinkley on February 14.

Gilbert is 17-2 with 13 KOs. Stovall is 10-4 with 7 KOs, but has lost three of his last four fights.

The bout is scheduled to be a super middleweight fight.

"We're very happy to work with the city of Fallon and their team for the second year in a row to present this event." said Terry Lane of Let's Get It on Promotions in a statement. "We've got an excellent card put together and are looking forward to another terrific evening of professional boxing."

Also featured on the fight card are the Hinkey brothers. Heavyweight fighter Tyler Hinkey is looking to avenge a July 10th loss to Andrae Carthron in a six-round decision. He will face Yohan Banks (2-3).

Older brother Derek Hinkey, a middleweight, is looking to rebound after a lackluster performance on the same night of Tyler's loss. He will face Valentine Jalomo (3-3).

Additionally, the card will feature two mixed-martial arts bouts in conjunction with MMA legend Ken Shamrock's Lions Den, which is located in Reno. Fallon resident Zeth Martin will make his pro debut against Joshua Turner (1-0) in a 170-pound match and Devin Conkling will fight Giovani Encarnacion at 135 pounds.

"I am happy to help bring pro MMA back to Northern Nevada," Shamrock said. "The Lion's Den now has a home in Reno and we have a lot to offer to the local MMA talent. I am very excited about the Rural Rumble. I'm looking forward to being at this unique event and meeting the terrific boxing and mixed-martial arts fans in Northern Nevada."
