MINDEN - Investigators with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Street Enforcement Team picked up two fugitives in Carson City on Monday in separate arrests.
Santiago Alcarez Cossio Jr., 28, was wanted in Douglas County for two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of felony child abuse for a July 4 incident in which he allegedly pistol-whipped his girlfriend and her 2-year-old son.
Officers spotted Cossio on Fairview Drive. Due to Cossio's violent felony status, investigators stopped the vehicle and arrested him at gunpoint.
Also Monday, Steven Jon Hipple, 41, of the Johnson Lane area, was arrested as he left a court-ordered counseling session.
Hipple was wanted for one count of assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of battery with a deadly weapon during a fight on July 3. Hipple allegedly hit a man with a sword causing a serious cut on the man's neck, and intentionally struck another man with his vehicle as he left the scene.
Hipple was arrested without incident and transferred to Douglas County.
Hipple is on federal probation for stealing quad-motorcycles from the U.S. Forest Service.
