Dog owners a

demanding bunch

Very annoying to learn stimulus money is going toward a dog park in Dayton. That was not the intent of such funds. How is a dog park going to stimulate the economy? Dogs will lift their legs on the trees and ruin the grass with their urine and digging. Dogs are an eyesore, an ear sore, and a nose sore.

Owners of other pets aren't demanding parks be built for their animals. You don't see ferret owners demanding ferret parks, or bird owners lobbying for aviaries for their pet birds to fly around. Or a cat park, for cat owners to socialize. Are horse owners wanting riding arenas to be built?

Dog lovers are a demanding bunch, and they seem to get their way at every turn. Dog owners act like it's a constitutional right to have a dog.

President Obama has

done one thing right

How dare Harry Reid denounce protesters who aren't in favor of the current proposed health plan. And then, the president, in his speech last week, (told) those who don't like his plan to "shut up."

If it is so great, how come Congressmen are not included, but still can continue their all-inclusive medical care plans. The current health care has many flaws, but it is still the best in the world. Why do you suppose many Canadians and others from around the world come to the United States for their care although they will have to pay the whole bill themselves? The Canadian plan, which Obama favors, is so poor that it takes months just to get an appointment to see a doctor.

Why do you suppose that Congressmen have canceled town hall meetings while on their summer break? Telephoning select numbers is not the answer. But they don't want to hear what their constituents really want, but instead want all power invested in D.C. Certainly whatever gets passed should be for Americans only. Including illegals, as now proposed, would open the flood gates faster than ever.

One thing Obama has done right is to make us all aware of what is going on in Washington, and letting our representatives know what we feel is right for our country and citizens and what is not.

Put health care

options to a vote

I'm a retired senior citizen. I was educated on the premise that our government is "of the people, by the people and for the people."

Why is it then, that Congress won't organize several different health care reform plans that offer various options that are an improvement over what we currently have, and then submit all of these plans to the people for a vote.

Congress needs to consider the wishes of the people - as was intended by our Constitution.
