One good bashing deserves another

It was a bit ironic that Rheba Montrose in a recent letter took offense at the governor being bashed when she then in turn bashed Carolyn and Maizie. Is one different from the other?

As for pitying the bashing of the governor, it would help if he didn't do things that he deserved to be bashed for. Just the way he does things makes me wonder and that happens really often. Suddenly he's gone on a trip and we're not to know any details about it. Makes me mighty suspicious. You mention that he had to make some preparations for a trip. Now do you really think he takes care of those things all by himself? I sincerely doubt it.

I was, well - really disgusted is about the best term - when I recently watched the interview after his last overriding of other offices. His comment was "I'm the governor" in a tone that pretty much said, I'm the king, so deal with it. Sorry, it sounded like a

7-year-old saying he was going to do what he wanted even if Mommy and Daddy said it was not right. This is not the first time he's acted this way.

And now, please, don't anyone comment that he's my governor. No, he's the state governor and I don't lay any claim to him being mine.

Political parties should be abolished

No more party lines! I am sick and tired of hearing "Well, Republicans did this," and "Democrats did that." It's everywhere the news is put out, newspapers, TV, radio and Internet.

I would suggest we abolish political parties from our democracy, period. They no longer serve the purpose; they have become completely devolved and twisted, causing people to turn on one another rather than working together. I pray for elections where it's more about the platform and the past of the politician than his or her party.

I'm sick and tired of people overlooking their politician's flaws just to bash someone else's flaws in the other party. It happens on both sides, no one is victim, except the system.

There has been a never-ending struggle in the United States to be rid of labels such as gender, age, race, religion, and I feel the first on the list to be removed should be parties. It is one thing to join a party because of the platform, but that simply isn't the case anymore. I can't stand it any longer. I will happily remain non-partisan, making my own decisions based on the facts and my beliefs, conservative on some, and liberal on others.

God Bless America, and her soldiers who are sacrificing so much for our freedom.
