Iris "Smitty" Smith, 92, passed away December 4, 2009, in Carson City. Smitty was born November 3, 1917, in Fayette, Ill., to Edward and Emma Smith. She worked in the accounting department for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft for 20 years while living in Huntington Beach, Calif. She later moved to Carson City in 1981.
She is a very proud WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Marines from 1943 to 1945 as a technical sergeant, then serving in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1951.
She loved to travel and enjoyed watching her favorite soaps.
Smitty will be dearly missed by her dear friends Joe and Lozia Lopez, their children, Tony and Michelle and their grandson, Sean, as well as Jim and Steve Rubert.
There will be a visitation for Smitty from 1:30 -2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 at Walton's Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. with entombment at Walton's Carson Gardens cemetery.
