The Carson Senators clamped down on defense in the final quarter 16-5 to overcome a miserable night from the free throw line.
Carson (1-1) shot 18 of 37 from the line, but held Bear River's leading scorer to zero points in the game.
Brian Barnes had 20 points and Trey Jensen added eight.
Carson will play Soquel (Calif.) at noon today.
