CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons has scheduled a news conference to brief reporters on the state's ongoing budget woes and steps he's taking before deciding on whether a special legislative session is needed.

The governor's news conference is planned for 11 a.m. in Carson City.

Sales tax and casino revenue figures for the fiscal year to date show revenue is about $60 million below those projected by the Economic Forum.

Some state lawmakers say a special session is premature. They say reductions could be made by the governor's office and the Legislature's Interim Finance Committee to avoid the cost of calling lawmakers back to Carson City.

Gibbons has already asked agency heads to prepare plans on how they would reduce their budgets by 1.4 percent and 3 percent.
