The Carson City Deputies and Supervisors associations each donated $500 to the "Christmas with a Cop" shopping spree scheduled for next week, said organizer Sheriff's Detective Dena Lacy.

Donations still are being accepted for the annual shopping spree. About 100 children are slated to participate in the event Thursday at Walmart.

In previous years each of the children was given a $100 gift card to spend however they liked while shopping with law enforcement chaperones.

While more money still is needed, Lacy said they are close to their goal thanks to the generosity of the community. Anything over the goal will go toward next year's event.

Donations to "Christmas With a Cop" can be sent to the Carson City Sheriff's Office, 911 E. Musser St., Carson City, NV 89702.

Checks should be made out to the Carson City Sheriff's Office, but you must annotate in the memo "Christmas with a Cop" to ensure it is deposited into the appropriate fund.

For more information call Lacy at 887-2020 ext. 41405 or Detective Daniel Gonzales at ext. 41407.
